Gordon State's Jennifer Beharie was selected the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association's Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the week of September 8-13. Her impressive week began as she led the Highlanders to open conference play with a 4-0 defeat at Andrew College. Beharie scored her first goal for Gordon State from close range to double an early lead. A second goal came from a direct kick that proved too much for the goal keeper. Beharie capped off a big afternoon by providing the assist on a third Highlander goal.
The next Highlanders conference game saw Beharie provide a vital spark late in the second half at Georgia Military College. Moments after Gordon State scored to cut a GMC lead to 3-1, Beharie stole the ensuing kickoff from a Bulldogs midfielder, drove into space before cooling floating the ball over the GMC goal keeper to pull the score to 3-2. The energy created from Beharie's goal helped drive the Highlanders to tie the match 3-3 ensuring that Gordon State remains undefeated in region 17 play.
