NJCAA National Office Communication

Charlotte, NC – The NJCAA National Office held the annual NJCAA Sport Committee Meetings virtually from April 20-24. Originally scheduled as part of the 2020 NJCAA Convention that was cancelled at the beginning of April due to COVID-19, the sport committee meetings and group collaboration in a virtual setting was a great success nonetheless.

"I sincerely appreciate the work of everyone involved in running successful sport committee meetings. The leadership from our board, our committee chairs, our committees, our region directors, assistant region directors, and our office staff was incredible," stated Dr. Christopher Parker, NJCAA President & CEO.

Region directors, assistant region directors, committee members and board members from around the country met via Zoom for the annual meetings. "I found the meetings to be productive and effective in the current situation," said Doug Spiwak, Harper (IL) Athletic Director and NJCAA Region IV Men's Director. "The NJCAA staff did a great job organizing and moderating the meetings. They provided opportunities for participation for the entire membership."

Although matters are continually being worked through as it relates to COVID-19, student-athletes remain the forefront of conversation. "Attention was given to each sport and how to best prepare for the challenges that are still ahead as we deal with COVID-19, and the return to sport," stated Heather Conger, Rowan College at Burlington County Athletic Director, NJCAA Region XIX Women's Assistant Director, and Division III Women's Soccer Chair. "While there is no doubt the chance to network with colleagues was definitely missed, the virtual NJCAA national meetings were refreshing in providing a chance to connect with the NJCAA leadership and colleagues around the country."

As the NJCAA continues to adjust and adapt as an association, the organization is dedicated to its two-year member colleges, supporting them at all times to keep them informed along the way.

"We look forward to getting together in person next year and celebrating all of the successes of our association", stated Dr. Christopher Parker, NJCAA President and CEO. "Stay strong, stay focused and stay together."
