BARNESVILLE, Ga. -- Gordon State's baseball team extended its winning streak to six games as the Highlanders with a 4-1 win over Lincoln Trail College (Ill.) and a 6-5 walk-off victory over Chattahoochee Valley Community College (Ala.) at the GSC Athletic Complex on Saturday afternoon.

GSC (12-5) also remained perfect at home with a 7-0 mark after the two victories.

In Game 1, left-hander Dominic Canale (Lawrenceville, Ga. / Mountain View HS) went the distance against Lincoln Trail to pick up his third win of the season against one loss.

Canale went seven innings, allowed just one run on five hits, struck out eight and didn't walk a batter.

Meanwhile, GSC was limited to just four hits, but got a three-run homer from Derek Wylie (Warner Robins, Ga. / Veterans HS) in the bottom of the first inning to give Canale some breathing room.

Wylie finished the game 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

GSC added a single run on a sacrifice fly from Myles Napier (Cordele, Ga. / Crisp Co. HS) to score Wylie in the sixth inning after Lincoln Trail had produced its only run of the game in the fifth.

The final game of the day was a thriller that saw GSC walk it off in the bottom of the seventh as Gavin Patel (Moultrie, Ga. / Colquitt Co. HS) was the hero for the second day in a row.

Patel's RBI single on Friday scored pinch runner Beau Spears (McDonough, Ga. / Tattanall Square Academy) in the 7-6 win over Lincoln Trail and Patel did it again on Saturday as the sophomore shortstop drove home Napier with another game-winning RBI single in the 6-5 win over CVCC.

The game was tied at 5-5 after three innings, setting up Patel's heroics in the bottom of the seventh.

Each team had 10 hits, including two each from Cole Phillips (Trion, Ga. / Trion HS) and Napier for the Highlanders.

Thomas Ross (Watkinsville, Ga. / Prince Avenue Christian) started for GSC and went four innings while allowing five runs -- two earned -- while striking out five and walking three.

Cory Newsome (Moultrie, Ga. / Colquitt Co. HS) came on in relief and worked three shutout innings on just one hit to get the win and improve to 4-1.

A weather forecast of rain this week has forced GSC to postponed its home game with Chipola College (Fla.) on Tuesday and a road trip to the University of South Carolina-Salkehatchie on Thursday for a doubleheader.  No makeup dates have been scheduled.

GSC's next home games come in a March 9 doubleheader at 3 p.m. vs. the LaGrange College junior varsity.
