DEMOREST, GA- The Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) has announced its 2019 Softball All-Region and All-Academic Teams with five Highlanders receiving recognition.
Sophomore Hunter Lee (Pike County HS/Concord, GA) was named to the All-Conference Second Team after her solid season at catcher and first base. In 27 conference games, Lee closed her Gordon State career with a .405 batting average, and led her team with 21 RBI's. She tallied 14 runs, 8 doubles, and 4 home runs. For her career in the Highlander uniform, she batted .347, with 21 doubles, 1 triple, had 9 home runs and 51 RBI's.
Redshirt Freshman Breanna Lee (Pick County HS/Concord, GA) was name to the All-Conference Second Team after her unwavering season at second base. In 28 conference games, Lee hit .357 with 17 RBI's. She scored 18 runs, had 7 doubles and 2 homeruns and did not strike out once. Overall, she led the Highlanders on the full season with a .364 batting average and tied her sister Hunter with a team high 30 RBI's.
Three other Highlanders were named to the GCAA All-Academic Team for the strong academic performance in the classroom for 3 or more semesters. Sophomores Taylor Dykes, Natalie Hardy and Lauren Hawkins were honored for their achievements at the GCAA banquet held at Gordon State College on May 2, 2019.
